Stories that break your heart

In reading some stuff this week, I was hit with the following story and the brutal reality of a brutal humanity that can be careless, heartless, and in the dark. This caused me to think of what we "Children of Light", the ones with a 're-created heart' should be like, be praying for and be about.... Don't let the following destroy your day but pray, how can i can a difference and where.... it could be in your very own city or community.

Taken from United Nations Refugee Agency magazine (UNHCR):

Sitting in front of her empty tent in Yemen's Kharaz refugee camp, Aysha is trying to move on with life. But holding two young children in her arm, the thought of her three year old son keeps haunting her.

"He was sick and cried a lot", she said, ten days after crossing the Gulf of Aden to Yemen. "The smugglers did not like it. They grabbed him - I begged them not to. Then they threw him overboard."

"I saw him disappear into the deep dark water".

I don't care whether she was a refugee or a migrant. I don't care whether her motivations were good or bad. And even though I don't understand what conditions must be like to force someone to take such drastic steps to leave their home country, it does not matter at this point.

Today, I have these thoughts running in my head... how miserable is it that one human being could do such an appalling thing to another. Especially to one so vulnerable, so helpless, and so in need. It sickens me, .... what do I do...... what do WE do....

God - change our hearts...
